Eyebrows are an important feature of the face, largely underestimated by many. They frame the face, draw attention to the eyes, and communicate through facial expressions. Eyebrows make an important contribution to facial symmetry and our general appearance, and are in fact one of the most important anti-ageing tools. Those of us that have eyebrows spend a lot of time, grooming and tweaking them in pursuit of the perfect shape. Often to the extent that the eyebrows are too heavily plucked and just don’t grow back the same again. What about those that are unlucky enough to have lost all eyebrow hair, whatever the reason? Have you ever seen a person that looked odd but you could not immediately determine what gave you that feeling? Most people totally ignore eyebrows on themselves and other people until they are missing. A person without eyebrows may feel very self-conscious about his/her appearance, and it is amazing the confidence boost a treatment can give. It is estimated that some three million people every year face eyebrow hair loss…so what are the reasons?

Obviously one of the main causes of eyebrow hair loss, which many of us are guilty of, is the excessive use of eyebrow tweezers at some point in our lives. However many medical conditions can play a part…. autoimmune diseases such as Alopecia, hair loss due to chemotherapy, tricolomania, thyroid problems, as well as stress or poor diet. Whatever the cause, when the eyebrow hair is lost or damaged, it can take an incredibly long time to grow back. Eyebrows are the slowest growing hairs on the body, and even when they do, they seldom grow back with the same density as before and often fail grow back at all.

So, what are the solutions?

Well most will resort to the good old eyebrow pencil, which is fine if you have the time to mess about trying to get them to the same height and shape every morning. Oh and of course you have to do your utmost not to touch, or rub them accidentally, you can’t get too hot in case they melt off, and of course you can’t go for a sauna or go swimming, or to the hairdressers for example, and expect them to still be in place, unless of course you have Semi Permanent Eyebrows.

Permanent eyebrows are created by drawing lots of little fine individual hairs, through an existing eyebrow, or using the same method can completely recreate an eyebrow that is no longer there. There are a range of colours which can be tailored to suit every hair colour and skin tone. Eyebrows created using this technique will look very natural and flattering, no one will even know it is not a real eyebrow. Hair stroke eyebrows are offered by many technicians, but it is a highly skilled technique, and many have neither the skill or the experience to enable them to achieve the natural look that is so necessary. You will have to live with this enhancement for a long time, so a technician should always be chosen with care, ensuring you see before and after images which represent the technicians own work, and price should never be an issue.

General Questions and Fears Regarding Eyebrow Tattoo

I have friends who have had this procedure done, and it looks very “block” and a strange blue/grey colour.
Some technicians still use this method which is literally colouring in an eyebrow shape in a solid colour, which can look very fake and unnatural. An experienced technician utilising up to date techniques will always create eyebrows which are natural and flattering, often with natural hair strokes simulation, sometimes with a soft powdered brow effect. Correct pigment selection will also ensure that the colour implanted remains “true” and does not fade to blue, orange or other hues.

Will I need to shave off my existing eyebrow hair?
No, it is surprising how many people think this to be the case. It is always best to work with existing hair wherever possible. It provides 3D and texture which will always help your Eyebrow Enhancement to look as natural as possible.

How will I know what my Eyebrows will look like once they are completed?
Most crucial of all is eyebrow design, the eyebrows are measured and drawn in place with an ordinary eyebrow pencil first of all to make sure the most pleasing shape is achieved. There is no such thing as a standard eyebrow. Faces vary enormously and it takes considerable training and experience to achieve the right shape to compliment, lift and enhance a client’s face.

I’m worried that my eyebrows will be too dark.
Initially all Permanent Makeup procedures appear darker than they will settle to. Over 2 or 3 days the enhancement will soften and diffuse into the skin. Wendy always works with a “less is more” policy, an enhancement that fades and settles too much can always be further defined and perfected. So to assure clients are happy with the results a further “fine tuning” appointment is offered free of charge within a 3 month period.
